Morgan County, West Virginia


Morgan County is located in West Virginia’s Eastern Panhandle, less than 100 miles northwest of Baltimore-Washington metropolitan area and 150 miles southeast of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. It is the westernmost of the three counties in the Panhandle, which includes Berkeley and Jefferson counties and which forms a wedge between Maryland to the north and Virginia to the south.

The county has an area of 230 square miles consisting of 148,000 acres, with a population of roughly 15,000 people. There are two incorporated municipalities, the Town of Bath, which is included in the larger area of Berkeley Springs, and the Town of Paw Paw.

Regional Hazard Mitigation Plan for the Eastern Panhandle

As requested by region 9, the Regoinal Hazard Mitigation plan is posted below:

"This Regional Hazard Mitigation Plan has been developed to improve the Eastern Panhandle's ability to manage and respond to natural and manmade harzards. By successfully identifiying, managing and responding to these hazards, the Eastern Panhandle will be a safe place to live.

The General public is invited to review this draft of the plan and provide any comments regarding its content. Please send any and all comments to mball@region9wv.com

The comment period will run through August 20,2010. Thank you for your participation in reviewing this document."
